Camera testing at sunset

WHAT a sunset!

I took a trip up into the hills and to the zigzag path to watch the sunset with my lovely boyfriend, Michael.

Wish I was on that plane, going on a holiday!

We’re so lucky to live so close to such a peaceful spot and it was great just to sit back and take it all in.

I got to test out my new tripod and camera remote at the same time.

Camera testing

Oh, Michael!

(I’ll admit, it took me a while to figure out that the remote had to be pointed at the front of the camera for it to work.)

I’m really excited to get out and take some cool night photos soon!

A day trip to Bunbury | photos

THIS has been a long time coming!

It’s been a while since my last post – life just seems to get in the way sometimes.

Bunbury, Western Australia | Extraordinary Days blog

There was so much cool street art!

But this a jump back onto the horse.

Last month I took a trip down to Bunbury with my lovely friend Candice.

We had actually planned to go all the way down to Busselton to see the jetty and the underwater observatory underneath it but car trouble meant we only got as far as Bunbury.

It was a really lovely day out and I wanted to share some of my photos from the day.

OOTD tres cool jumper and sneaker heels | Extraordinary Days blog

I love finding cool backgrounds for outfit posts!

This jumper is just… Très cool! I picked it up at H&M the last time I was in Melbourne (but you can get one here)  and the holographic wallet is from Collette.

I also wore these sneaker heels in another outfit post. They remind me of the shoes the Barden Bellas wore during the final in Pitch Perfect.

I love getting out and about and exploring new places.

Even though Bunbury is only a couple of hours for Perth, I’d never really spent any time there, so it was great to feel like a tourist for a day, wandering around and finding cool street art.

I can’t wait to get out and do this again!

Have you tried being a tourist in your own city? Tell me about it in the comments below!

A trip to Lake Clifton | photos

A WHILE ago I took a drive out to Lake Clifton to see the thrombolites.
These ‘living rocks’ only exist in a few places and can be thousands of years old.

Lake Clifton thrombolites Western Australia | Extraordinary Days

The thrombolites are made up of calcium carbonate structure and a thin film of bacteria on the top and they’re extremely delicate, as well as rare and critically endangered.

Luckily, there are lots of signs to tell visitors just how much damage can be done if they touch the thrombolites.

When I visited a few months ago, the water levels in the lake were still too high and the thrombolites were submerged, but I was lucky enough to be able to see them through the relatively clear water.

I’ve read that late summer and autumn are the best times to visit because the water is low enough that the thrombolites stick out of the water so I’ll have to make another visit soon.

It was an incredible afternoon!
I only had a short amount of time before it got too dark but the sunset, alth0ugh it was cloudy, was beautiful.
I’m really enjoying exploring in my own state more, just like when I went to Fremantle a few weeks ago.
Keep an eye out for more of my local adventures  in the future!

A day in the sun in Fremantle | photos

ANY day spent wandering in the sunshine is a good day!

I took a trip out to the seaside suburb of Fremantle on the weekend with my lovely friend Candice and we caught up over fish and chips, dipping our toes in the ocean and looking in little book shops.

Festival fun in a bright orange kaftan

SUMMER means it’s the festival season!
Just a quick post today as I’m flying off to Melbourne today to see some lovely friends who are lucky enough to live over there!
(I’ll be bringing you photos from my trip later in the week so stay tuned for that.)
I went to the H2Overflow event held in the Perth CBD yesterday afternoon/evening with my friend Hayley and it was such a great experience!

Time to party!

This kaftan is in such a fun colour!

I was definitely easy to spot from a distance!
I kept my hair simple with a tidy bun to keep it out of my eyes and threw on a cross-body bag and minimal silver accessories.

I really need to bring out these sunglasses more often.

Sunglasses are always a must for outdoor events and I picked out this really cute Dotti floral pair for the day.
My silver glitter jelly sandals brought the whole thing together. I’ve said in a previous post that these are really comfortable and easy to wear all day – they’re my go-to summer footwear, especially when there will be lots of dancing and foam involved!

Flowers and lavender dresses and weddings, oh my!

WEDDINGS are so much fun!
Last week I was lucky enough to attend the wedding of two old friends of mine, Sarah and Leslie.
They sure know how to put on a good party!

Lavender formal dress | Extraordinary Days

This breezy lavender dress was perfect for the hot weather.

As the ceremony was on a really warm day I wanted to wear something that would keep me cool so this little lavender dress fit the bill.
The flowy skirt wasn’t restrictive and the ruffled straps added something a bit different to the dress.
I wore silver sandals for the ceremony as it was on grass but donned a pair of incredible white Windsor Smith heels for the reception. (See them here or a similar style here.) I want so many pairs of shoes from their collection!

These chunky white Windsor Smith heels were easy to walk in.

I knew I wanted to wear my hair up to keep it out of my face and off the back of my neck but I jazzed it up with some adorable K is for Kani flower hair clips.
I bought these quite a while ago and have also worn them with more casual outfits. See them here and check out the rest of her amazing headband and flower crown collection here.

These flower hair clips are just adorable!

For my accessories I stuck with shiny silver druzy earrings, a glittery bag and my staple chunky silver watch that was a birthday gift a few years ago.

All in all it was a lovely day!
The reception was at the Aquarium of Western Australia and included time to walk around and check out the aquatic creatures before the party started.

A golden trip to the beach | photos

I TOOK a trip down to the beach after work yesterday.
I’m house sitting down in Mandurah at the moment. It’s a little place right next to the sea and it means I don’t have to do my usual two-hour per day commute to work.

I love the time of day when the lights is just golden.

It was deadline day at the paper and it was crazy so it was lovely to be able to get out into the sun. It makes me so happy that it’s still light for a while after I get out of work now – it makes me feel more human.

Tiptoe through the tulips at Araluen | photos

A FEW months ago I went with my mum for a day trip out to Araluen Botanic Park for the annual tulip festival.
I’ve never been before but I can see why so many people head there every year – it really was lovely to see the thousands of tulips in every colour, all blooming at once.
